September 2nd, 2026 — Byfield Rainforest, Queensland
Ferns Hideaway sits in the heart of the Byfield Rainforest, about 40 minutes north of the coastal town of Yeppoon and roughly an hour from Rockhampton.
If you're flying in, Rockhampton Airport is the closest. We'll send detailed directions closer to the date.

There's plenty to keep you busy between wedding activities, or nothing at all, if that's more your speed.

Cool off in the natural swimming hole, fed by a waterfall that tumbles down from the rainforest above. Best enjoyed after a morning walk.

Paddle along the creek at your own pace. Kayaks are available on-site. No experience needed, just a willingness to get a bit wet.

Trails wind through the property and into the surrounding rainforest. Some are short loops, others will take you deeper into the bush.
There's a tennis court on-site. Bring your competitive spirit, or just have a hit around.
Gather around the fire pit in the evenings. We'll have firewood ready, you bring the stories.
A sandy court tucked behind the main lodge. Perfect for working up an appetite before dinner.
When you want a swim without the adventure, the pool is always there. Usually quiet in the early mornings.
Plenty of space to spread out a blanket and do absolutely nothing. Sometimes that's exactly the point.
For those who want to sleep under the stars. Campsites are dotted through the property: close enough to join in, far enough to feel alone.
Ferns Hideaway has cabins, safari tents, and powered campsites scattered through the property. Book directly through their site. We recommend staying at least a couple of nights to make the most of it.

Not everyone wants to camp, and that's okay. Here are some other places nearby, from rustic cabins in the rainforest to beachfront apartments in Yeppoon.
You've made the trip to Central Queensland, so you might as well make the most of it. Here are some of our favourite spots nearby.
