Tuesday, Sept 1st

Make your way to Ferns Hideaway and get settled in. Take some time to explore the property and meet your neighbours.

Join us by the main lodge for casual drinks and nibbles. A chance to catch up with old friends and ease into the weekend.

Wednesday, Sept 2nd

The main event. We'll be saying our vows outdoors on the grass, surrounded by the rainforest.

Charcuterie, drinks, and mingling while we sneak off for a few photos.

We head indoors for dinner, speeches, dancing, and all the good stuff.

FAQ

What's the dress code?

Cocktail attire. We'd love to see you dress colourfully. Think florals, bold prints, or anything that feels like a wildflower garden in the forest. The warm tones from our colour palette are a great place to start. We'd ask that you avoid greens (so you don't blend in with the bridal party) and please, no white. That one's taken.

What time should I arrive?

We'd suggest arriving around 2:30pm. The ceremony will kick off at 3pm, outdoors on the grass, so you'll want a few minutes to find a seat and soak it all in. The reception follows indoors at the same venue, so no need to go anywhere.

Can I bring a plus one?

Plus ones have been allocated to those with spouses or long-term partners. If your invite includes a plus one, their name will appear on your invitation or on the website when you RSVP. If it doesn't, we may not have been aware of your partner when invites went out. Feel free to reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate, but due to costs and numbers, we can't make any guarantees.

Are children welcome?

Due to the costs involved and to keep numbers manageable, we've made the difficult decision to invite family and friends aged 18 and over only. The only little ones at the wedding will be our niece and nephews, who are part of the ceremony. We hope you understand, and that it gives you a great excuse for a kid-free weekend away.

This is an unplugged ceremony. What does that mean?

It means phones away, please. We've hired a wonderful photographer to capture the ceremony and we want to be fully present with the people we love, not dodging a sea of phone screens. There will be signs and an announcement on the day, so this is your heads up. After the ceremony, snap away to your heart's content.

What's the food and drink situation?

After the ceremony there'll be a cocktail hour with charcuterie while we take some photos. Dinner and celebrations follow. There's a limited open bar to start, and after that you can pay by cash or card.

Where should I stay?

We've put together a full list of options on the Your Stay page, from on-site camping and cabins at Ferns Hideaway to apartments and motels in Yeppoon. If you're booking camping at Ferns, pop "Kat & Brent's wedding" in the notes section when you book.

Do I need transport between the ceremony and reception?

Nope. The ceremony and reception are both at Ferns Hideaway, so everything is in the one spot. For those staying in Yeppoon, we're looking into arranging a bus back after the reception. More details closer to the date.

I'm flying in. How do I get there?

Rockhampton Airport is the closest. If you're flying up, let us know and we can help arrange a pickup from the airport. We can also help with getting around if it's sorted in advance, just reach out.

Do you have a gift registry?

Honestly, the fact that so many of you are travelling so far to be there means the world to us. We don't have a registry. If you'd like to contribute to our wishing well on the day, that's really lovely but absolutely not expected or required. Just come celebrate with us.

Will there be photos taken?

Yes! There'll be family and group photos after the ceremony, and we'll do our best to capture everyone throughout the day. That said, we won't be able to set aside our photographer's time for individual family portraits, so please bear with us.

Who do I contact with questions?

If you're a friend, message us directly, you know how to find us. If you're family and it's easier, you're welcome to go through our mums and the message will get passed on. If you've missed the RSVP deadline, get in touch as soon as possible and we'll sort it out.
